100% long.

JT Composite will move to a 100% long TNA position on the close. This is a result of the CCI flipping from short to long today. The JTS remains long. I will take a healthy position in TNA - though not 100%. If CCI turns out to be a day early, which I don't think it will this time, I will buy more TNA tomorrow. However, again, I don't think tomorrow will be a down day. Happy trading!

  1. Thanks JT, I'm gonna sit on my big TNA position. Here's to your system and generosity to share. I'll be watching for a target of 76.93 on IWM.

    1. Sorry meant to say 76.93 as one of my targets. Darn there now. I also watch after hours and pre hours at times.

  2. Joinin' in,... but willing to add (a lot) on expected further downside. If we rally tomorrow, color me gone from this long.

  3. I'm always interested in your views, JKH. Why do you foresee further downside?

  4. BAM! Up indeed! Out of TNA at Daily R3 50.85. Quick 6% gain in less than 24 hours... I'll take it and run!

  5. Does it look like either system will sell or go short today?

  7. I missed out on this trade as I was out looking for a rental property at my new base. I'm also in Mountain Time now instead of Eastern. This will take some time to get used to lol.

    1. Jared, have missed out on some of J's calls. But he will catch you up in no time. I'm in Pacific and time this early morning stuff is exhausting.

  8. Out at 51.29 and only because my mobile band was not working this morning and the luck of it all it kept me in the trade a few points higher than otherwise.

Whew, what a ride. Thanks so much

  9. Thanks, it's been quite a good stretch recently. I'm not sure how long I can keep this up. Believe it or not, I've had 14 winning trades in a row dating back to sometime in May. I'll detail this more in a weekend post. And please keep in mind, if we get into a relentless trend (either up or down), my systems aren't going to handle it very well. Well, at least the CCI won't. We've been under mean reversion lately and while I've been loving every minute of it, I know it won't last forever.

    1. J, maybe something like this: http://www.adaptrade.com/Articles/article-eq.htm.

Perhaps an equity curve for the three systems, and trading only those that are above their moving average (i.e., the composite when both JT Comp and CCI are above their MAs, if only one is trading only that, and, if none is, then turning the systems off.

  10. You are humble but pragmatic too J. Systems really fit certain market conditions. And even tho the last few years the market has been extremely erratic and could put you in killer trades both for and against you, your system has been pretty dang good. You are right about the CCI I've noticed. But there is where I think the combo of both your systems is very reasonable. Maybe by next year the market will settle down and we can put your babies to the test.

Meanwhile remember, we who follow you, are just grateful for your generosity. And most of us are using our own systems and our trading decisions are ours alone.

  11. First, I second everything Lana said.

J, as always, you speak with experience and wisdom. This may be an impossible request, but I can't help but think that some sort of indicator that signals which of the systems (JT Comp or CCI) is working better would be incredible. Maybe something as simple as a moving average applied to an equity (profit) curve. What do you think?

    1. A,

Food for thought for the weekend. I hate to "fix" things that aren't broken, but a little preventative maintenance is probably OK. I'll check out that link above. I still have to do more VXX/XIV work, too. :)

  12. Nice when the news goes in the same direction.

  13. J, both systems still flashing SHORT? thanks!

  14. Yes John, at this point I believe SPY would have to take a big tumble to kill the short signal. Easy day today which means I'll have the signal up very soon...
