Cash, if...

The CCI will remain long today.  The JTS could produce a short signal if SPY closes 143.75 or higher....in which case the JT Comp would head back to cash.  If 143.75+ is not met, the JTS and thus the JT Comp system will remain 100% long.  Thanks!

  1. Thanks J. I thought we'd have a down day for XIV. Evidently I do not know how to call the markets like you all do. Everyday is a learning experience. Thanks for you daily insight!

    1. No worries Jason, I can't call the market either. I'm just regurgitating my signals here.

  2. J - long time silent follower. Your work is invaluable. Wondering if you can add TNA closing price column also. Also, at end of month, can you give a summary of your trades ( buy date/price, sell date/price ).

    Again, great work.

    Thanks

    1. Do you mean an XIV column? I was planning on doing that eventually, it's just a bit complicated. It might be too confusing when we switch to backwardation and we're trading VXX on the short side and TNA on the longs. I think I'll wait until 2013 for any further website tweaks. I'll be taking my annual month long trading vacation Dec 15th to Jan 15th giving me plenty of time to think how I want to approach it.

Would providing my monthly trading log after the fact be of any value? I'm not sure it would. Now that you mention it though, I would rather add some boxes on the left stating my current position and my entry point. Would that be more beneficial? I would say yes since it's near real-time.

Thanks for your input gd... and for making yourself known. :)

    2. Your current position and entry point...TOTALLY WILL BE USEFUL. Awesome idea. Thanks.

    3. Actually, the position size (in % of portfolio) would be helpful so we can see how much you trust (just kidding) your system based on what you see in the market.

You do this most of the time in your commentary, so it isn't like you are not already pointing this out for us.

Thanks for all you do J!!

  3. It felt as though it was only a matter of time. Sure enough, we are now "unhealthy" and "short-biased". Fortunately XIV is still above our entry price.

Within 4 days, there should be a sharp rally. I will explain this afternoon. Keep plenty of capital handy.

  4. RMI touched on a good point, although in jest. Very few people trust a system implicitly, even the developers of a system.

However, I'd venture to say that very few, if any, people, can outperform a good system in the long run. Most will under perform by a substantial margin.

    1. True, but I value my sanity and the ability to sleep at night. Holding 100% short or long positions all the time would be too much stress for me to bear. Occasionally I will do it, but only if I feel very strongly about the position.
