Unfortunately systems cannot predict the news. I wonder what tomorrow will bring after today's rally (if it holds till the end that is). I kept my cash position after selling TNA thankfully. I'm not a big fan of 50% positions even with my TSP account. I'm all in or all out lol.
Went short at the open. May be advantageous to do half the desired position size at the close and other half at open. Times like this I would be a benefit to lower cost basis and other times may increase it but may be something to think about.
Joe, scale-in is far safer than all-or-nothing. A/N is best returns, but highest volatility.
Jared: No system predicts the news. But the good thing is that it doesn't need to nor was it built to. It was tested with historical data and that has all the news built in, in the form of price action, which is all that matters.
J: I'm unloading into this, and starting to build shorts. Been a great vacation, and continues to be so.
I'm sorry, JT, call it End-of-Quarter levity if you will, but have you NOTICED how many commenters on this site are “J”?
I'm posting this NOW... because at this moment we have a representative sample. We have a Joe, a Jared, a Jim, a JKH, a John Lee (and at other times a John); also at times a Jason; and phonetically the latinate 'Algyros' could also be expressed w a J in transliterating phonetic Spanish or Portuguese. And many apologies to any J who I might be forgetting.
JT- all of this in what you yourself must admit is a very select and small pool of contributors-- as opposed say to a mass site like Mark Hulbert on Marketwatch, for example, with hundreds of comments per post.
Good observations, Daniel. Actually, my middle initial is J, but my name is actually Alex Argyros (put them together and you might get Algyros), a Hellenic, not a Latin, name.
Of course, it's interesting that someone who is J challenged would notice flock of jays on this site.
Yes sir, quite so, I realized the humor but frankly, I had never previously thought of it as a handicap.
:)
btw, really enjoy the side commentary which you and the above mentioned jays have provided along the way. I would do more myself but I have frequent Google blogger "re-direct" problems which make it very frustrating at times. Not happening today tho.
FWIW, I'm on a Mac and Google blogger is definitely not my friend when I use Safari. However, it seems to be much more generous when I switch browsers to Firefox.
Thx, nick of time!
ReplyDeleteThanks, J.
ReplyDeleteI see not the best timing on the EU news...

ReplyDeleteJust needs to be a bit patient, wonder if the JTS will also go on short today?

ReplyDeleteAll or nothing is the safest play and even then the news trumps it all. Good ole Europe, etc.

All refers to a 100% JT Composite. As far as getting into the market I agree with you on scaling in.

Um, birds of a feather, flock together...?
Thanks for another quarter of guidance, J-Trader!

No J in your name that I can discern.
