Short #2

The short signal was confirmed. The system is 100% short, averaged in at TNA 48.13. It appears the 50/50 method is going to benefit the system this time, as it improved the cost average by 2.40%.

3:52pm: The system goes 100% short if SPY closes 129.06 or higher. Otherwise, it remains 50% short TNA.

  2. All in TIVX baby !!! Either hello retirement or greeter at Walmart when I'm an old feck. Thanks for all your efforts - I'm done with stupid buy-n-hold (since 15 years)...If anyones interested theres an automated candlestick analyzer at americanbulls.com, but it's simplistic compared to Mr. J-Traders model incorporating other indices. Best regards and Good luck to all !!!!!!!!

  3. Interesting site. I am really curious how their system works and may "test" it for awhile.

    Thanks !!!

  4. Be careful about americanbulls.com. As far as I understand, their signals are at prices you can't get, so their statistics are misleading.

  5. Check their history on AGQ (a silver ETF) they turn $100 into $1000 in 2 years with purely candlestick analysis. Some funds seem to do better over 2 year period - I wonder if the candlestick method alone works better with certain waveforms. I wonder if choppy prices negate easy candlestick-pattern development versus smoother but relatively volatile pricing.

  6. Again, check out their entry and exit prices. From what I can tell, they're retroactive.

  7. Exactly. Intraday movements in a stock could have you buying and selling multiple times a day just to stay in line with their signal. It's just not realistic.

  8. Hi Nice blog you have here and nice system. I want to go 100 percent in with a portion of my money. When a stop loss is hit, just go to cash? Thanks

  9. Thanks samir,

No stop loss on this short trade. The reason being that buy signals come frequently enough in a healthy market environment.

Check out the link in the upper right for more stop loss info. When there is a stop loss price involved, it never closes out the entire position - just half.

  11. For anyone with a retirement account, they can open a ira with interactivebrokers.com and can trade the same money all day without the 3 day rule

  12. Bears are weak. I am disappointed. A hold signal is expected.

  14. I could be completely wrong... but it looks like this system works well w/ certain types of markets...

I've got a mean reversion algo of my own... gets creamed in trending markets.

  15. Then luckily for us this is not a mean reversion algo.
