Hold signals

No changes today, patiently holding shorts waiting for a pullback that doesn't seem to want to come. See ya tomorrow.

  1. J, is there anything you can say about your proprietary system as to why it has been so bearish all year?

Yours is definitely not the only one, but I was curious if you knew why.

    Thanks!!

  2. That's a very good question, RMI. Just a glance at the chart of SPY or any other broad market index shows quite clearly that the market has been in an uptrend all year. So, like you, I'm curious as to J's sense of what appears to be a disconnect between the direction of the market and the bias of his system.

    1. Yes, a valid question. My best guess, as a long-time observer, and part-time signal follower, is that the system is driver largely by reversion to the mean. It seems to operate on the principle that the mkt will only zig go so far before zagging. Obviously there are many other ingredients in the system soup as well, but this may be one of the more significant ones. Just a guess.

  3. Thoughts anyone on a possible reaction to today's Fed Announcement?

I am obviously still short, so I would love to see the beginning of a sell off...

    1. Well, the Fed slapped the bears down again...

  4. Wow, all indexes rocketing up, volatility is tanking...

    All buying, no taper...

    Possible Bernanke 3rd term.

I think I am selling, taking my lumps and going to sit aside for a couple years...
