It's interesting... but tight. SPY has to close at 141.90 or higher and the VIX and small caps have to confirm. Right now they are confirming the short signal, but we'll see how these last few hours go. If the market closed right now, we'd be going short.
I have several questions, but the first one I'll ask is this. When you say modify to 4 days, are you saying to use a CCI with a period of 4 rather than the 14 I'm currently using? Thanks.
You can automate a simple CCI system like the one you're describing and then backtest it. If you do that, I think that you'll see that it doesn't perform so well over time.
I haven't tested it yet so I'll reserve judgment for later... but I will say that Algyros speaks the truth. Because it has worked well recently in a trending market, it may get torn to shreds in a mean reversion market. I'll look into it.
I'm always open to new ideas though, especially ones that incorporate my all-time favorite indicator.
You have a good weekend too, J.
ReplyDeletethanks-- have a nice weekend
ReplyDeleteawesome thanks!
ReplyDeleteThank you all...
ReplyDeleteJ, reaching that 1420 ish level, we're shorting here or betting on the long side?
ReplyDeleteGood question. I'm not sure yet. Let me go look...

ReplyDeleteJ, i was looking at the CCI indicator this weekend, if you modified that to 4 days, it seems that it would track real well with our ETF system.
ReplyDeleteWhenever the line cross over 100 or -100 consequently that's the time to switch signal, let me know what you think.

i actually plug it back to last july/august and it does provide a pretty good indicator, but only time will tell.
